Maybe somebody direct Abp Williams' attention the work of Bat Ye'or, particularly her book Dhimmitude. As most of know, one of the major achievements of Western civilization is a unified, impartial, legal system. Further, I cannot not imagine that this kind of accomodation bodes well for ecumenism vis-รก-vis Rome.
