Hard to tell

The big question about politics in the Middle East is: has 9/11 so changed the American public that isolationism is no longer an option?

Perhaps the question one should ask is: was isolationism *ever* an option? Despite President Washington's early warning against foreign entanglements, already Jefferson was sending American soldiers to Tripoli to defend our interests.
